UMAP Thailand Scholarship

The Commission on Higher Education (CHE), Thailand, has a policy to promote student mobility in Asia and the Pacific region for better understanding of diverse cultures among the people and to enhance academic linkages between universities in the region.

CHE, as the UMAP member secretariat of Thailand, offers scholarships for eligible students who are enrolled in UMAP member universities to attend a 4 week course at selected Thai universities. Students from non-UMAP member universities are also welcome to apply for the program but priorities are given to applicants from UMAP member universities. UMAP member universities are listed in http://www.umap.org/.

The 4 week course meets 5 weekdays a week except national holidays.
The course is team-taught by prominent faculties teaching in leading Thai univesities in and outside Bangkok. Excursion to historical and cultural sites and localties is included.
Scholarship recipients may not concurrently undertale other studies and are expected to devote their full efforts in meeting academic requirements of the course they attend.

Requirements:

  1. Applicants must be currently studying at undergraduate level majoring in a related area of the chosen course.
  2. CGPA >3.0
  3. If applicants' first language is not English, one of the following official qualifications is required:
  • TOEFL >550
  • IELTS >6.0
  • A qualified English proficiency certificate as equicalent to TOEFL/ IELTS
  • 2 letters of recommendation from appropriate academic authorities at the applicants' home instituitions.

Successful candidates must:

  1. Be able to afford round-trip air fare, visa application & relevant travel expenses
  2. Have international accident and health insurance
  3. Be available to complete the entire period of the program
  4. Have good physical and mental healthBe socially adaptable and willing to experience academic and cultural differences
